To me, the importance of having a pepper grinder at home is HUGE. Grinding your own pepper will reward you with more vibrant and peppery flavor, which will in turn make your meals better!

Peppercorns hold tons of flavor, and that delicious peppery taste is released when the peppercorns are cracked. Pre-ground pepper is a big no-no because over time the ground pepper will lose its flavor. This happens because the peppercorn is exposed to oxygen, and is completely inevitable once the pepper is ground. So, don’t commit the peppercorn crime of buying pre-ground pepper.

Another tip I like to share has to do with the pepper grinder itself. The nozzle at the top of the grinder can be adjusted, by turning it, to give you control over how fine you want your pepper to be. If you want a stronger pepper flavor, loosen the nozzle so that the pepper comes out in larger chunks. If you want a light, polite pepper flavor, tighten the nozzle so that your ground pepper is very fine.

Being able to freshly grind pepper onto your home-cooked meals will really pack a punch and make a difference. Pepper grinders are practical, and they will ensure your pepper always comes out fresh and firey.
