COOKING METHJODS EDIT-14.jpg

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you think about the various different ways to cook food. It’s time to stop doubting your skills, googling step after step, because I am about to simplify it all for you! I’m going to show you that it’s not about mastering a recipe, it’s about knowing the methods involved in them. If you can learn the techniques in these 4 cooking methods, you’ll know how to cook just about anything.

BLANCHING

If you’re a health nut, then you’ll love blanching. Blanching allows you to preserve the nutrients and vitamins in vegetables, which makes blanching a very clean way to make your veg. Another perk? The cooking time for blanching is short so blanched veggies are perfect when you’re short on time.

SAUTEEING

No matter what type of cuisine you’re into making, there’s a pretty good chance that sauteeing is going to be part of it. It’s important to nail down a few basic steps so you don’t end up with food that is burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. Stick with me on this one, and I’ll take you through my foolproof methods for sauteing so that you can feed your family and friends, not just your pets.

ROASTING

Roasting is wonderful because you can use this method of cooking with so many different kinds of food: vegetables, meats—you name it. Nothing is more dang delightful than a beautifully roasted chicken or pan of potatoes or carrots, so let’s go through the steps of how to achieve that wonderful roast.

STEAMING

These aren’t your grandma’s mushy steamed vegetables (no offense to grandmas everywhere, love you ladies). Steaming deserves way more love than it gets because it’s a great, health-conscious way to cook and results in tender and evenly-cooked food.
